U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched "The Real Food Show" in late July, a new cooking series intended to help Americans prepare healthy and affordable meals using everyday ingredients. The U.S. State Department has acknowledged an error after an inaccurate map of Africa was displayed during a presentation at the AIDS 2026 conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The map was intended to illustrate countries involved in U.S. international health programs, but every country it attempted to identify was incorrectly located. Among the errors, Nigeria was shown as landlocked in the Sahara, Mozambique was placed in the Horn of Africa, and Côte d’Ivoire was positioned on the opposite side of the continent. The image also contained an artificial-intelligence watermark indicating that OpenAI tools had been used in its creation. President Donald Trump has publicly backed Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, whom he appointed to succeed Jerome Powell earlier this year. Trump has repeatedly called for substantial interest-rate cuts, arguing that borrowing costs should be significantly lower. Under Warsh, however, the Federal Reserve has so far kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 3.50–3.75%. Following the Fed’s latest meeting, Warsh indicated that persistent inflation remained a concern and that future policy decisions would continue to depend on economic data. Several policymakers favored tighter monetary policy. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on July 28, their first face-to-face meeting since the United States and Israel launched their joint war against Iran on February 28. Iran is expected to dominate the talks, amid continuing uncertainty over the conflict and efforts to reach a negotiated settlement. The meeting comes after signs of strain between the two leaders over the conduct and direction of the Iran war. They are also expected to discuss the U.S.-Israeli framework agreement with Lebanon following the Israel-Hezbollah conflict and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords. Netanyahu is in Washington as well to attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham.
